What are Disney World's Best Themed Restaurants?
Some of the most memorable experiences at Disney parks aren’t attractions or shows, they’re the restaurants. And while everyone knows about character dining – you can read about my favorites here – Disneyworld’s amazing themed restaurants take guests to other places, other times, and even other worlds.
There are so many different experiences that every guest can find something that appeals to them. Here are some of my favorites:
Oga’s Cantina in the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is a scene right out of the original film. Music is provided by droid DJ R-3X, and bounty hunters, smugglers, and rogue traders may be doing business in the shadows. Guests are given instructions when they enter – no fighting allowed! Exotic drinks and appetizers are on the menu. Oga’s Cantina is at both Hollywood Studios in Florida and Disneyland in California.
At 50’s Prime Time Café in Hollywood Studios, guests go back in time as they eat in a mid-century kitchen complete with kitschy knickknacks and black and white televisions broadcasting the favorite shows of the day. Comfort food is on the menu, and the waitstaff will scold diners for putting elbows on the table or for not cleaning their plates.
San Angel Inn Restaurante is one of the most romantic restaurants in Epcot’s World Showcase. Guests dine on Mexican food at candlelit tables as stars twinkle overhead. The restaurant is set in a 17th century hacienda at the base of Mayan ruins. Boats glide by, heading out on the Gran Fiesta Starring the Three Caballeros attraction.
What Hollywood restaurant is more famous than the Brown Derby? Although the original in California closed in 1982, guests at Hollywood Studios can experience the Golden Age of Hollywood as they dine in an authentic replica. Diners enjoy the glamour and glitz of Tinseltown in wood-paneled rooms lined with caricatures of the stars of the Golden Age.
At Biergarten in Epcot, Oktoberfest is celebrated all year long! This restaurant will transport guests to a Bavarian Village. Enjoy bratwurst, pork schnitzel, and apple strudel from an amazing buffet while a lively polka band entertains the crowd.
Too young to have experienced a 1950s drive-in movie theater? Hollywood Studio’s Sci-Fi Dine-in Theater Restaurant gives guests a chance to experience it. Carhops seat diners in convertibles facing a large screen showing clips of primitive robots, staggering mummies, and psychic aliens. Stars twinkle above, and there’s even an old-fashioned concession stand.
Last, but certainly not least, is the out-of-this-world Space 220 in Epcot’s Future World. Guests travel 220 miles above earth to enjoy amazing views of the galaxy, including a space station and friendly astronaut floating nearby. An international crew makes up the waitstaff, and diners will use a special elevator to blast into space and board the spacecraft. Space 220 will be opening this Spring!
Reservations are recommended for all of these amazing restaurants. Contact Vacations by Shannon for free travel planning, complete with dining!
